Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Tervika — pricing, getting started, plates, exports, languages, and how we handle your data. If your question isn't here, the Get Started and Guide pages cover the app in more detail.

Pricing & plans

Is Tervika free to use?

Yes. Tervika's Standard tier is free and gives you full access to every feature — coordinate lookup, plate creation, 2D and 3D preview, and all export formats (DXF, PDF, and GLB). The free tier shows ads inside the editor at tervika.app/app/ and is capped at 10 saved signs. Premium raises the limit to 100 signs and removes ads.

What does Premium include?

Premium removes all ads in the editor, raises the sign capacity from 10 to 100, and supports continued development of Tervika. Every design and export feature — DXF, PDF, GLB, AI prompts, custom fonts, cloud sync — is already available on the free Standard tier; Premium is about capacity and an ad-free experience. It is billed at €3.99 per month or €29 per year (a 39% saving on the yearly plan). Billing is handled by Stripe, and you can cancel any time from the Account page.

Are there ads on the marketing site?

No. The marketing pages on tervika.app — landing, about, guide, blog, FAQ, and so on — are ad-free for everyone. Ads only appear inside the editor at tervika.app/app/ for users on the free tier. Premium subscribers see no ads anywhere.

Getting started

How do I design my first sign?

Open the app, tap New Sign, give it a name, and pick a location either by searching, by using your current GPS position, or by tapping on the map. Then add a plate for each destination you want to point to. The full walkthrough is in the Get Started and Guide pages.

What devices does Tervika run on?

Tervika is currently a web app that runs in any modern browser — desktop, tablet, or phone — at tervika.app/app/. There is no separate native iOS or Android app yet. If you sign in, your signs sync across every device you use, so you can start a design on your laptop and finish it on your phone.

Can I try a sign before designing my own?

Yes. From the empty signs page, tap the sparkle icon or the Browse Examples button. Pick an example sign to copy it as your own — a quick way to learn the workflow before you start from scratch. Examples count toward your sign limit just like any other sign and can be edited freely.

Plates, materials & dimensions

What is a plate?

A plate is a single arrow on your sign that points from the sign's location to one destination. Each plate carries a destination name, a calculated true bearing, and the distance from the sign — all derived from real GPS coordinates. You can customize each plate's shape, dimensions, color, and font, either individually or through the Master Template that all plates inherit from.

How accurate are the bearings and distances?

Bearings are calculated as true bearings using the WGS84 spheroid, which is the same model GPS receivers use. Distances use great-circle math, so a plate pointing from London to Tokyo shows the actual flight-line distance, not a flat-map approximation. The accuracy is well within the precision needed for any physical sign.

Can I change the shape, color, and font of plates?

Yes. Tervika ships with eight plate shapes, configurable colors and finishes, and a curated set of fonts chosen for legibility on directional signs. You can set these globally in the Master Template, or override them per plate. Custom font upload is on the roadmap; for now, the bundled fonts cover the most common sign-making styles.

Export & manufacturing

What export formats does Tervika support?

Tervika exports DXF for CNC routers and lasers, PDF for documentation and 1:1 templates, and GLB 3D models for renders or AR. DXF and PDF are the production formats; GLB is for visualization and client preview. All three respect the dimensions, fonts, and Master Template settings exactly as shown in the preview.

Are the exports CNC-ready?

Yes. The DXF export uses real-world units (millimeters or inches based on your settings), separates plate outlines from text on distinct layers, and avoids self-intersecting paths. Most CAM tools — V-Carve, Fusion 360, Lightburn, EstlCAM — import the file directly without cleanup. For the full CAM-side workflow, see the DXF preparation article.

Languages

What languages does Tervika support?

The app interface is available in 18 languages: English, Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Ukrainian. The blog and FAQ are currently English only. Sign content — destination names and labels — is free text, so you can mix scripts and languages on a single sign.

Account, data & privacy

How is my data handled, and is Tervika GDPR-compliant?

Sign data is stored on your device by default. If you sign in, it syncs through Tervika's account service, but we do not sell personal data and only collect what is needed to operate the service. You can export or delete all your account data at any time from the Account page. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
